The North Charlotte area of Mecklenburg County is often referred to as University City. This is a fitting name, considering The Univeristy of North Carolina at Charlotte is located here. While the University is a great asset to the community, this area also offers numerous other attractions. Concord Mills is the number one tourist attraction in the state, offering a broad range of shopping and dining choices. Lowe's Motor Speedway is one of NASCAR's most popular race tracks and attracts fans from across the country. In addition there are numerous popular golf courses.

This area is one of the fastest growing areas in the region, and home to many large technology and banking centers for some of the nations largest companies including IBM, Bank of America and Wachovia to name a few. As you might expect, residential development is booming in this area. North Charlotte has one of the highest income demographics in Mecklenburg County.
